Who said, “It is more blessed to give, than to receive“? How familiar are you with the words of Jesus? Many people quote Jesus and do not know who they quote. Many do not realize that Jesus said “And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” (John 8:32) and “Seek and you shall find” (Matthew 7:7). Jesus is testified to be the originator of the most sublime morals. Few have tried to invent virtues and none that pass Jesus. Are you aware of what He taught? Here are a few of His moral teachings:

  • “It is more blessed to give than to receive” (Acts 20:35).
  • “And just as you want men to do to you, you also do to them likewise” (Luke 6:31).
  • “When you give a dinner or a supper, do not ask your friends, your brothers, your relatives, nor rich neighbors, lest they also invite you back, and you be repaid. But when you give a feast, invite the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind” (Luke 14:12-13).
  • “Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgment” (John 7:24).
  • “Judge not, and you shall not be judged. Condemn not, and you shall not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven” (Luke 6:37).
  • “But I tell you not to resist an evil person. But whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn the other to him also. If anyone wants to sue you and take away your tunic, let him have your cloak also. And whoever compels you to go one mile, go with him two. Give to him who asks you, and from him who wants to borrow from you do not turn away” (Matthew 5:39-42).
  • “But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you” (Matthew 5:44).
  • “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal…For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also” (Matthew 6:19, 21).
  • “Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?” (Matthew 6:25).
  • “But those things which proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and they defile a man. For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies. These are the things which defile a man, but to eat with unwashed hands does not defile a man” (Matthew 15:18-20).
  • “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another” (John 13:34-35).
  • “Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends” (John 15:13).

Jesus boldly stated, “My words will not pass away” (Matt. 24:35, Mark 13:31, Luke 21:33). Jesus said that His words would judge the world (John 12:47-48). Now look where these words are today. Jesus said in His prayer to God the Father that He gave these words to His disciples (John 17:8, Acts 1:2). For those who were followers of Jesus were to also follow His disciples, the Apostles (John 15:20). Jesus also told His disciples that He would reveal to them more even unto all things through His Spirit (John 14:26, 15:26, 16:12-13).

By Jesus, the apostle Paul taught that the words of the Apostles and prophets, “Which things also we speak, not in words which man’s wisdom teaches, but which the Spirit teaches; combining spiritual things with spiritual words” (1 Cor. 2:13). The Apostles testified to have these words and that they wrote these words of Jesus that would never pass away and would judge the world.

Seeing that it was Jesus who said His words would judge the world, Jesus also said that His words are spirit and life (John 6:63). Jesus intended His words to give life to those who have alienated themselves from God.Jesus said in Luke 9:25-26,

“For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and is himself destroyed or lost? For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words, of Him the Son of Man will be ashamed when He comes in His own glory, and in His Father’s, and of the holy angels.”

Jesus spoke of the day of judgment saying,

“When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory. All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats. And He will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left” (Matthew 25:31-33).

Jesus revealed in Matthew 7:13-14, “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.” Most people will not go to eternal life but to everlasting punishment. For Jesus said, “And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life” (Matthew 25:46).

Still Jesus gives the invitation in Matthew 11:28-30,

“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”

Jesus said in John 10:10, “I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” Jesus promised in Matthew 5:6, “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, For they shall be filled.” Read Jesus’ words of life. He said:

  • “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live” (John 11:25).
  • “Therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins; for if you do not believe that I AM, you will die in your sins…Jesus said to them, ‘Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM‘” (John 8:24, 58).
  • “Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father who is in heaven. But whoever denies Me before men, him I will also deny before My Father who is in heaven” (Matthew 10:32-33).
  • “I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance” (Luke 5:32).
  • “He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned” (Mark 16:16).
  • “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. Amen” (Matthew 28:18-20).

Do you believe in these words of Jesus? Jesus said in Matthew 12:30, “He who is not with Me is against Me, and he who does not gather with Me scatters abroad.”Jesus saw no neutral ground either you accept Him or you are against Him. Presented here are only a few of the words of Jesus that will judge the world (John 12:48). Jesus let it be known in John 8:31 that, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed”, and He taught that those who love Him will have His words and observe them (John 14:21, 23-24). Jesus said that all could recognize His disciples, “By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another” (John 13:35.) For Jesus said, “I will build My church” (Matthew 16:18).
