Seeing God's Breath

"Every scripture is God's breath…" (2 Timothy 3:16–17).

Study of Denominations

The churches of Christ have no denominational structure, and they have objection to the meeting of local elders to address issues (Acts 20:28–31; 1 Timothy 3; 1 Peter 5:1–4; cf. Acts 15).

  1. Before I went to all the work of putting up an article talking about churches, I would like to know what church really means. All churches, any church, are part of a pagan organization and have not the spirit of the living God. The word church is not in the Bible.

    1. Rick, Church represents and takes on the meaning of ekkleisia. This Greek word refers to a pagan mob and a legal assembly in pagan society in Acts 19. However, ho ekkleisia tou Xristou is the congregation/ assembly of Christ. That is the church that I am interested in. I am not interested in debating about how you think church has a pagan origin while ignoring the use of ekkleisia. I am of the church of Christ. Farewell.

      1. I am not interested in debating about how you think church has a pagan origin while ignoring the use of ekkleisia. – I know, you’re not interested in having your niche challenged, because you are ill prepared. I haven’t ignored ekklesia at all. What an arrogant response, you have no fear of God.

  2. are you saying that those who go to a non church of Christ can be saved like a community church? I thought the church of Christ is supposed to not have religious fellowship with other “churches”

    1. The churches of Christ have no fellowship with false doctrines that lead people away from Christ. Christians are “of Christ.” If a community church is not “of Christ,” then they cannot be saved. No group can be saved outside of Christ. Otherwise, I do not know what you mean by community church.

Is this a church in the community? Is this a church of Christ serving the community? Are you referring to the community church movement from the 90s?

“Everyone who goes on ahead and does not abide in the teaching of Christ, does not have God. Whoever abides in the teaching has both the Father and the Son” (2 John 9).

  3. Mark 16-15,16 states he that believes and is baptized shall be saved. The good news that is.Sounds like some are adding there own restrictions.

    1. Some can be baptized correctly and not uphold sound doctrine. False teachers will rise from among the churches (Acts 20:28).

Christians must avoid adding or annulling parts of God’s Word. For the sake of the weak, let us consider a safe position of unity according to Romans 14.

      1. the community churches, denominational churches, city churches are all false religions, man made doctrine and self made etc… none of them follow the New Testament teachings and commandments. The Churches of Christ adhere and are obedient to the faith, they are not supposed to fellowship with other types of doctrine but guide others to God through Christ.
        Ephesians 4:1-7
I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, 2 with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, 3 eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. 4 There is one body and one Spirit—just as you were called to the one hope that belongs to your call— 5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism, 6 one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all. 7 But grace was given to each one of us according to the measure of Christ’s gift.
