What Saves Christians?

Can any of these be excluded? Also recognize that each of these work in specific ways from God in Christ. For instance, “the grace of God that brings salvation” and it is not the complete source of salvation (Titus 2:11).

  • God (2 Timothy 1:8-9)
  • Jesus (Matthew 1:21, 1 Timothy 1:15)
  • The Holy Spirit (John 3:5, Titus 3:5, 2 Thessalonians 2:13)
  • Grace (Ephesians 2:8)
  • Blood of Christ (Romans 5:9)
  • Jesus’ Name (Acts 4:12)
  • Jesus’ Life (Romans 5:10)
  • The Gospel (Romans 1:16, 1 Corinthians 1:18, 15:1-2; 2 Thessalonians 2:13)
  • The Implanted Word (James 1:21)
  • Faith (Acts 16:31, Romans 1:16, 10:9-10, 1 Peter 1:9)
  • Obedience (Matthew 7:21, Hebrews 5:9, 1 Peter 1:21)
  • Works (Philippians 2:12, James 2:24)
  • Loving God and others (John 14:21-24)
  • Confession of Faith (Romans 10:9-10)
  • Repentance (2 Corinthians 7:10)
  • Baptism (Mark 16:16, 1 Peter 3:21, Acts 2:38, 22:16)
  • Doctrine (1 Timothy 4:16)
  • You by Evangelism (Romans 10:13-14, 11:14; 1 Corinthians 1:21, 7:16, 9:22; James 5:20)

How is one saved?

Faith is essential to baptism and salvation follows both (Mark 16:16). Confession of this faith is necessary too (Rom. 10:9-10, Acts 8:37). Christ’s Spirit teaches that repentance must come before baptism (Acts 2:38). Baptism is the moment when sins are washed away (Acts 22:16).

I agree, but doubt many knew much of this the day they placed faith in Jesus. I guess this may be where we pick from the list that which we conclude “one must know”
