 Ray Stedman Libary

Ray came to know the Lord at a Methodist revival meeting at the age of ten. Interested in a preaching ministry at this young age and living on a farm, he began to preach to the cows. He served in the Navy during WWII and was stationed in Hawaii. He began leading Bible studies and during this time he realized that the Lord wanted him in full-time ministry. Ray graduated from Dallas Theological Seminary in 1950. He served under Dr. J. Vernon McGee as a youth minister in the Lincoln Avenue Presbyterian Church in Pasadena, Ca. Later he accepted the call to serve on the staff of Peninsula Bible Fellowship in Palo Alto, Ca. The elders of PBF were encouraged through events to form PBC and appoint Ray as their Senior Pastor. Ray served in this capacity for over 40 years retiring in 1990. I had the privilege of meeting Ray Stedman when he was invited to speak to the leadership group of a church I was attending at the time. I found him to be soft-spoken but full of biblical wisdom and years of experience of serving our Savior. He passed away in October of 1992.
