The Farrar Family Creed
We of the Farrar family believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of Heaven and Earth, and Jesus Christ, His only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary; suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead and buried, the third day He arose from the dead, physically and spiritually; He ascended into Heaven, and sits on the right hand of God the Father Almighty even to this day. From here He shall come to judge humanity both dead and alive, according to their belief in Christ (as Christians) or unbelief (as Non-Christians).
We believe the Holy Bible to be God’s Word. It contains information of what God is like, a record of Jesus’ life and serves as a guideline for how to live a fulfilled, meaningful, joyful life. We believe it to be the only true written revelation from God and to be complete in its present form (refer to 2 Peter 1:20,21, and 2 Timothy 3:16-17).
We believe in the Holy Trinity, our one God being in the form of three persons; Father, Son and Holy Ghost. The Bible supports this for it states there is a God the Father (2 Peter 1:17) and He has a Son. The Bible supports the fact that Jesus Christ was and is God. In Exodus 3:14 the Hebrew word used for God (I AM, YHWH) is used in John 10:30-33 and John 8:58 by Jesus to indicate this is who He (Christ) is. In Revelation 22:7,13,16,20, Jesus states He is the Alpha and Omega. In Revelation 1:8, God states also that He is the Alpha and Omega. Thus further proof that God and Jesus are one in the same. In Acts 5:1-4 an account is given of persons bearing false witness to God, and at the same time to the Holy Spirit. Thus God and the Holy Spirit are the same. The Trinity is tied together in verses such as Luke 1:35, Matthew 3:16, 28:19, 2 Corinthians 13:14, Acts 3:26, 1 Thessalonians 1:10, John 2:19-20 and Romans 8:11. These personalities of God are only one God though, for in Isaiah 43:10 this is proclaimed.
We believe that we are saved by grace, not by any of our own works (Ephesians 2:8,9). Works we may accomplish through the power of the Holy Spirit are simply proof of our faith in the message of Christ (James 2:14-26).
We believe the sole purpose of man is to glorify God. We believe that this is done by accepting Christ as our Savior and setting the goal for our life to be more Christ-like (Galatians 2:20).
