THE TEAM
Dr. Allen and Janelle Avery Jr. are the founders of AOM. They have served in Africa for 36 years where over 80 churches have been established. Allen has a MA and DMin in Missions. Janelle has a MA in Christian Ministries. They have two married children and four grandchildren.
After a long bout with cancer I must inform the saints that Dr. Allen Avery Jr. went to be with the Lord this June, 2010. The groundwork that he laid formed the foundation for a huge outreach in Africa. The Lord's work will continue to be carried out by the many men and women he and his wife discipled during their long years of work. Pray for Janelle and her family as they deal with the loss. I am sure Allen is dancing in heaven and will be waiting for us to arrive in the future.
Scott and Lisa Harris, along with their three children, have served as missionaries in France, West Africa and now South Africa. Scott has a BA in Bible and MBA. Lisa has a BA in Home Economics and is a published author of Christian fiction.

AFRICAN OUTREACH MINISTRIES
“Establishing churches by the power of God and for His Glory.”
THE MINISTRY - SERVING IN 5 COUNTRIES
GOAL 1: ESTABLISHING FELLOWSHIPS OF CHURCHES
• ZIMBABWE: Through the work of encouragement of Allen and Janelle Avery, a fellowship of churches has been developed in western Zimbabwe. Zimbabwe Christian Fellowship now consists of 40 independent, self-governing churches.
• ZAMBIA: Martin and Grace Mulyata are overseeing the establishment of churches among the under churched Lozi tribe in western Zambia. Through this partnership begun in 2000, 15 Churches with over 600 disciples were established among this resistant people group. Only 4% among this tribe of one million attend a Bible believing church.
• MOZAMBIQUE AND MALAWI: In these new areas of ministry for AOM, we are assisting a new church plant in Malawi and laying the groundwork for a future church planting effort in northern Mozambique.
• AND BEYOND: With God’s leading, our desire is to look next to the other countries of central and southern Africa. The goal is to partner with national Christians to establish churches among under-reached people groups.
GOAL 2: LEADERSHIP TRAINING
The establishment of viable healthy churches takes committed and trained church leaders and evangelists. To nurture the development of these leaders, AOM is:
a. Continuing to provide training and encouragement to the existing fellowships of churches in Zimbabwe and Zambia.
b. Providing contextualized training and materials for leadership, church and family development. Our materials are now in five African languages.
c. Training teachers: In South Africa, AOM has launched a program of training qualified pastors from Bible believing churches to teach an extension seminary course called BTCL (Bible Training Center for Leaders). The vision is to see training centers established in all the provinces of South Africa presently without the BTCL program.
GOAL 3: AIDS ORPHAN ASSISTANCE
The pandemic of AIDS in Africa has produced millions of orphans. Historically, the African culture has relied upon extended family members to care for orphaned children. In Zimbabwe, AOM is partnering with Scripture Union, an international children’s ministry, to assist 120 orphans with school fees and uniforms, supplemental feeding, obtaining medical care, providing spiritual support through pastoral care, camps and a weekly Bible club and pastoral care. In Zambia, 60 orphans are assisted through the Followers of Christ Fellowship. All the orphans are living in their extended families.

AFRICAN REALITIES
SPIRITUAL HARVEST:
Africa is in the midst of one of the greatest times of harvesting disciples the Church has ever experienced.
PARTNERSHIP:
Partnering with indigenous churches will be the main role of Western missions in the 21st Century.
AIDS/HIV CRISIS:
It is estimated that in many central and southern African countries, as much as 35% of the adult population is infected with the HIV virus.
VISION
AOM's vision is to partner with the African church to establish new fellowships of churches in every country of central and southern Africa.
AOM's primary target is under churched people groups in this area of Africa.
AOM's desire is to establish churches devoted to holiness, obedience to Christ, small group accountability, and a vision to evangelize their people and beyond.
