Opening
Scene:
We observe
two demons walking along,
plotting
who to tempt and aggravate this particular day.
"Well what sort of havoc should we inflict today
Grief?” asks Hideous.
"I'm not sure what our master would prefer, but any
sort of hindrance we can put before one of those followers of the Holy One
would be pleasurable.” replies Grief.
"Let's go down this street and see what torture we can
inflict on their lives.”
"Be cautious. Remember what we ran into last time. That
creature tore us apart.”
"Yes, Pr...”
"Don't even say its name! My tender pointed ears can't
stand to hear it!”
"Okay, okay, I understand. It was horrible, the fear
that animal put in our tortuous veins. Yes, we should avoid that weapon of the
Holy One at all cost.”
"Each Christian has that creature ready to attack us,
all they have to do is unleash it.”
"Yes, its amazing that we
aren't constantly tormented and defeated. Those servants of the Most High could
easily cause us to retreat from our evil plans if they would only set loose
that most powerful creature of the Holy One's design.”
"So lets take care as we seek our prey.”
The demons slowly and methodically
observe the landscape before them. Like lions stalking their victim, they gaze
upon individual after individual seeking to select the one to loose their
torment and temptation upon.
"How about her.” Grief
asks.
"No, master already possesses her. Master wishes for us
to seek those who are potential converts to the path of light and life. He also
desires us attempt to frustrate and challenge those who have already committed
themselves to the Holy One. Anything we can do to distract or discourage them
from the path of truth will assist our master in his plans.”
"Yes, those who belong to our master are so easy to
torment. They are juicy to practice on but no significant challenge.”
"True, the master has no need
of us to plague those who are trapped in darkness. He is more concerned about
those who may be attracted to the light or those who promote the light they
have received. They are a challenge though. Many are shielded with armor,
overseen by our holy brothers in heaven and then there is their most powerful
creature, Pr...”
"STOP! You almost said its name again. I can't stand
that name. I don't want to even think of it chasing after us and driving us
from the lives of those we are called to torture.”
"Sorry. I forget myself at times. Come on, we must be
about our master's business.”
"How about him?”
"Hummmm... Looks promising. He seems to be unprotected.
His armor is close by, but I believe we might be able to get to him before he
can clothe himself for battle.”
"Do you see the creature? Yes, but it is leashed.”
"Do you think the soldier of the Holy One is aware of
how powerful the creature is?"
"You never know until you attack. To hell with caution,
let's oppress this supposed believer in truth!”
The filthy
demons streak towards the Christian with evil intent.
A gentle
nudge from the Spirit within the heart of the servant causes him to jump to his
feet. In one sweeping motion he unleashes the animal and raises his shield of
faith. As he puts on his helmet of salvation and the remainder of his armor, he
draws his sword.
The pure
white animal that was beside him is now free. It lunges towards the onslaught
of demons. The power of this creature is evident in every muscle and tendon.
The animal glows brighter and brighter as words emanate from the mouth of the
Christian. Prayer has been unleashed and nothing evil or living in darkness can
stand in its path of purity. God's powerful weapon of Prayer attacks the demons
ripping into them with a vengeance. Shrieks of pain pierce the air as they
scream and scurry away, wounded, frightened and defeated.
Prayer
returns to the side of the Christian and lies down on the soft green grass and
gazes up at the Christian with soft tender loving eyes.
The
Christian stands boldly thanking his Savior for his armor, for the powerful
weapon of Prayer and for the privilege of knowing the Holy One, the King of
Kings, Jesus Christ.
Philippians
4:5‑7
"The
Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer
and petition, with
thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which
transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ
Jesus.”
Colossians
4:2
"Devote
yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.”
1 Peter
3:12
"For
the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and His ears are attentive to their
prayer.”
